Tapper trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She made her screen debut in Richard Eyre's Stage Beauty (2004) followed by appearances in Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont (2005), also starring Joan Plowright, and A Harlot's Progress (2006). Tapper's stage credits include Epitaph for George Dillon (2005) at the Comedy Theatre and, as Desdemona, Othello at the Globe Theatre, London (2007).
