William first met Cecil Frances Humphreys at a party in Milltown House were the Humphreys lived in the town of Strabane Co. Tyrone , and it was case of love at first sight as he also was a poet in his own right, it was just a few months after their first meeting that William walked Cecil Frances to the farthest part of the garden at Milltown House and like a true gentleman got down on one knee and proposed, and it was here she accepted and on the 15th October 1850 here in the old church in the parish of Camus-Juxta-Mourne (the bend of the river) William walked his bride down the aisle. Christ church are the proud custodians of the marriage certificate and the communion cup or chalice used on their wedding day . Hope this helps.
