Robert Maxwell Johnstone is my great Uncle on my maternal side. My mother's mother, Lucy Jean Isobel Walker (nee Johnstone) was his sister. My mother Gillian MH Walker knows far more about the family history than I do, and has just retired from a long career as a Conservator and Restorer of Easel Paintings in Sheffield. We'd both love to see this painting! My Mum is due a trip to London soon - would it be possible for her to come and see this painting, and tell National Portrait Gallery staff more about Maxwell?
