Artist Sam Taylor-Wood graduated from Goldsmith's College in 1990. Using photography, film, video installation and sound she explores human relationships and emotions, focusing on moments of fragmentation or tension. Her acted scenarios draw freely on a variety of sources from Renaissance and Baroque painting to Hollywood cinema. In 1997 she won the Most Promising Artist Award at the Venice Biennale and in 1998 she was nominated for the Turner Prize. In 2002 she had a major solo exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, London, and in 2009 she directed the film Nowhere Boy, based on John Lennon's adolescence.
