Sydney born footballer spotted for the Australian National Youth team at the age of 10. Came to England at the age of 16 to pursue his footballing career and his scholarship allowed him to train and play for Leeds United FC. HIs successful 1997-8 season helped Leeds reach fourth place in the Premiership and a place in the UEFA cup. Voted Young Footballer of the Year in 1999/2000. By the start of the 2002/03 season, Kewell had scored 47 goals in 201 games for Leeds. Transferred to Liverpool in July 2003.
