Caricaturist Faustin Betbeder ('Faustin') was born in Soissons, France. Working in Paris, he executed many scathing caricatures of the Franco-Prussian War as well as portraying the political and social atmosphere in Paris at the time. He later moved to England, where he set up a printing business and contributed illustrations to the London Figaro.
