George Tierney

(1761-1830), Politician; MP for Southwark and Knaresborough

Sitter associated with 49 portraits
An opponent of Pitt, with whom he fought a duel in 1798. Tierney was leader of the Whig opposition, 1812-21, and Master of the Mint under Canning in 1827.
