Anthony Cardon
(1772-1813), Engraver and print publisherArtist associated with 72 portraits
Flemish-born Cardon moved to London in 1792 and enrolled at the Royal Academy schools, after which he established a successful engraving and print publishing practice for himself. Cardon worked mainly in stipple engraving and became one of the leading exponents of this medium. He engraved many portraits, including after Richard Cosway's portrait drawings, as well as historical engravings and illustrations for various publications.
