An early nineteenth century portrait etcher and engraver, Charles Picart lived and worked in London. As well as working on large, individual commissions, he was frequently employed to contribute plates to publications such as Dibdin's Decameron, Lodge's Portraits and Description of the Ancient Marbles in the British Museum.
