Father of
Daniel Rabel 1573 - 1637
French Renaissance Painter, engraver, miniaturist, botanist and illustrator. Son of Jean Rabel, official court artist to Henry III. He was first employed by Maria de Medici, 2nd wife of Henry 1V of France. In 1612 he was employed by the Duke de Nevers
In 1618 he moved to St. Germans des Pres where he painted "Suite de Fleurs" and a number of landscapes and hunting scenes in oil. Around 1631 he was appointed official artist to Gaston, Duke d'Orleans, third son of Henry IV. During the latter part of hi life he was very much involved in set and costume design for theatres and ballet.
