Thomas Herbert Maguire

Thomas Herbert Maguire was a painter and lithographer, working in London in the middle of the nineteenth century. Maguire specialised in portraits and genre scenes; he was best known for his series, commissioned by the College of Surgeons, of eminent physicians and surgeons. He was lithographer to Queen Victoria, and exhibited a portrait of her at the Royal Academy in 1855.

Thomas Herbert Maguire was the second son of Henry Calton Maguire (1792-1854) & Eliza Rebecca Bussman (1792-1850) He was baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Grays Inn Road, on 14 April 1847, when his birth date was recorded as 25 October 1821.
