Chairman of the Arts Council, England (since 2004). Professor of Cultural History (since 1979) and Rector and Vice-Provost (since 1996) of the Royal College of Art, London. Frayling joined the RCA full-time in 1979 and founded the Department of Cultural History. Historian, critic and broadcaster, Frayling has published books and articles on visual culture, design and history. Knighted in 2001 for services to art and design education.
