Chair of the Arts Council, England (2004-9). Professor of Cultural History (1979-1992) and Rector and Vice-Provost (1996-2009) of the Royal College of Art, London. Frayling joined the RCA full-time in 1979 and founded the Department of Cultural History. Historian, critic and broadcaster, Frayling has published books and articles on visual culture, design and history. Knighted in 2001 for services to art and design education.
