Anne Killigrew married George Kirke, a groom to the Royal Bedchamber who later became Gentleman of the Robes. She was appointed in 1637 as Dresser to Queen Henrietta Maria, one of the most prestigious places for a woman at court. She died tragically by drowning on 6 July 1641, when the royal barge capsized.
