He began to appear on television where he became an international star through The Benny Hill Show (1955-1989). Famed for his 'seaside postcard' sauciness, Hill achieved international stardom. Film roles included The Italian Job and Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang.By the 1980s Hill's humour began to be seen as out-dated and his popularity in Britain waned but recordings of his shows continue to be aired around the world.
