John Charles Fox was the second child of John Fox and Laura Tennant Caroline Fox. He was born in Gravesend in 1855 and he practised as a solicitor, later becoming Senior Master of the Chancery Division in 1917. He was knighted and retired in 1921 and died in 1943.
