Sitter in 2 portraits
Born in St Petersburg, Egorova graduated from the Imperial Ballet School to the Maryinsky Theatre in 1898. A lyrical dancer, she excelled in the role of Odette in Swan Lake and her Giselle was compared favourably to that of Pavlova. In 1918 she moved to Paris and afterwards she joined Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, where she shared principal roles with Lopokova, Spesivtseva and Trefilova. In 1923 she opened a school in Paris and in 1937 she founded the Ballet de la Jeunesse.
