Hello, Just to tell you that the 2nd picture is not Amelia Frances Houston. I am making a family tree of the Bowden family and slowly working out who is who. He is not Sir Harold Bowden but maybe a husband of one of his sisters. His brother Claud died age 16, so I don't think its him.
You have recently started putting the Goodman archive online. If I make an appointment can I visit?

They are both portraits of my Great Aunt, Lady Amelia Frances Bowden (nee Houston) wife of Sir Frank Bowden, shown in her wedding dress. She was a very fashionable lady and caused a rush to buy copies of her wedding dress (just like Kate Middleton does today)! Although the portraits were commissioned when she was an old lady, she was obviously proud to show that she could still fit in her lovely wedding dress. The veil was a triangular piece of material which just fitted over her face and rested on her chest.
