Athar-Ali Fyzee was born in Bombay (now known as Mumbai) on 28 August 1883. He participated in 12 tournaments at Wimbledon, the first in 1910 and the last in 1933. At Wimbledon in 1930 he lost in the first round against American Bill Tilden (6-1, 6-0, 6-2) and in 1932, the second round against German Gottfried von Cramm (6-4, 6-3, 6-1). He reached the quarter finals for the Davis Cup with his team twice in 1921 and 1922. He also competed in tennis at the 1924 Paris Olympics.
