Cheryll Anne Tickle

(1945-), Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology

Sitter in 1 portrait
Tickle is a developmental biologist whose research focuses on how complex organisms result from single, fertilised eggs during embryonic development. Many of her findings on how vertebrate body plans evolve have resulted from her extensive study of limb development in the chick. Elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1998 and fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2000. She received a CBE for services to biology in 2005 and is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Bath.
