Agutter came to prominence as a child actress in The Railway Children (television series-1967, film-1970), followed by starring roles in Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout (1971) and The Snow Goose (1971). Aged twenty-one she joined the National Theatre to play Miranda in The Tempest, before moving to Hollywood where films included Logan's Run (1976), An American Werewolf in London (1981) and Equus (1977), for which she won a British Academy Award. As a photographer her work was published in Snap (1983).
