Ewald André Dupont was a German born jewish film director who had been for some years (or productions?) in Great Britain. On the photograph he looks untimitated and strong, very male. He emigrated to the USA in 1933 and was not very successful, which seems not very remarkable after rise of nazisme. He was one in the huge Colony of German jewish or socialist democrates in Los Angeles / Hollywood, which had been kept alive, but without few opportunies to work on their own projects als Alfred Döblin, Bertolt Brecht, Lion Feuchtwanger, William Dieterle, Vicki Baum. They all survived by contracts which had been formulary (?) signed by MGM studios not expecting any results. Helping the cultural so called German emigrants seems to me nowadays as an act of humanity. E. A, Dupont (this was his international name to hide the German background was married to the actress Gretl Dupont who had been working with Fritz Lang and Murnau. She, too, had few possiblitiies to work in the Hollywood studios, but found a new profession - translating Vicki Baums successful novels back into German, the mothertongue of both. . Baum had begun to write in Englisch at about 1941 into German,
