Fleur Adcock (1934-), Poet
Sitter in 1 portrait
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Adcock settled in London in 1963. Adcock's experiences of migration can be found in her work's concern with identity. She writes of domestic life, often drawing attention to the stories of women who have been marginalised within history, characterising her poetry with an intimate and conversational tone. In 1996 Adcock received an OBE and was awarded the Queen's Medal for Poetry in 2006.
