This Warwick Brookes, b1843, d1929 was a pioneering Manchester photographer who was the nephew of the more famous Warwick Brookes, b1808, d1882, a Manchester Artist on the fringe of the pre-Raphaelites movement. The latter, artist Brookes was my great x2 grandfather. The former Brookes, photographer became extremely well known for his work within the theatrical world and was the photographer of choice for many who wanted their portrait for promotional reasons. He had three children, the oldest boy, as was family tradition, also named Warwick b1875 d1935 became a well known entrepreneur, and MP for Mile End. The photographer’s daughter Blanche, b1872, d1959 worked as his Oxford Road, Manchester studio assistant for a time and married world famous showman of the time, Eugen Sandow, b1867, d1925 at Manchester Cathedral on 8th August 1894. All of them later worked as a family with Sandow in his fitness business before WW1. I have far more information about all the family than there is room for here.
