Studied photography whist working for the American Army in Heidelberg, Germany (1946-55) and emigrated to the United States in 1959, continuing studies in photography and receiving some commissions. Worked for the World Bank and during a trip to Australia undertook several photographic assignments for the World Bank, a freelance posted which continued until her retirement in 1986. Hill moved back to England and donated prints to several American and British museums.
