Sophia was the daughter of John Disney of "The Hyde" Ingatestone, Essex and the wife of William Jesse author of "The Life of George Brummell Esq commonly called Beau Brummell" William was the grandson of the calvanist clergyman Rev William Jesse whose portrait is in the collection.
