Darvish Fakhr

Of American-Iranian heritage, Fakhr is an award-winning contemporary artist who specialises in Iranian portrait paintings. He studied at the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston, where he attained his BFA in 1994, and Slade School of Fine Art, London, where he got his MFA in 1997. He has exhibited in America and the UK, including at the Quod Art Gallery in Brighton and the Mall Gallery in London. His work was included in the National Portrait Gallery's BP Portrait Award exhibition in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2004. In 2004 he won the BP Travel Award, using the opportunity to paint local people in Tehran and Isfahan, Iran. Settled in the UK for over two decades, Fakhr lives and works in Brighton.
