Jason Brooks

(1968-), Artist

Artist of 1 portrait
Jason Brooks was born in Rotherham, England in 1968. He studied Fine Art at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Art and Design, attaining his BA in 1991, followed by his MA a year later. Brooks's work has been showcased internationally and in the UK. His practice involves taking photographs with a large format camera, from which he then paints the image using an airbrush, modifying the surface with a variety of techniques. He is interested in photography as a tool of exposure, using it to dissect the figures as much as possible. His images are of tattooed models and women urinating in public places. Brooks was awarded the John Moore's Painting Prize in 1997, and was the winner of the NatWest Art Prize, 1999.
