The photo is of "Millie Carlotta", one of a few names she used, whose real name was Sophia Furniss (nee Foster). She was an equestrian bareback rider in various' circuses around the Liverpool area. The photo was probably taken by her husband Raymond Furniss who was variously a photographer, Circus artist booker, and theater manager. The photo was probably taken around 1900.
