SGJ was a Captain in the 13th Light Dragoons who distinguished himself in the Charge of the Light Brigade (25 October 1854).

Born 4th of February 1826, the son of George Jenyns, of Bottisham Hall, Cambridgeshire, and his wife Maria Jane, daughter of Sir James Gambier.

He died suddenly (possibly after an asthma attack) at Much Wenlock, Shropshire, on the 26th of November 1873, aged 47 years. At this time he was Assistant Adjutant-General at the Horse Guards.

He was buried in the family vault in Bottisham Church on the 3rd of December 1873.
