Anna Wintour (1949-), Editor of American Vogue

As Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue since 1988, and artistic director for Condé Nast, British-born Wintour has made a significant contribution to the international fashion industry. Previously editor of British Vogue (1984-7), Wintour is credited with boosting the circulation and reinvigorating both titles in the Vogue franchise. She has also worked as a journalist on magazine titles including Harper's and Queen and House and Garden. Her work at American Vogue has been documented in the film The September Issue (2009).
