Born in Lima, Peru, Testino studied Economics, Law and International Relations before moving to London for photography training. Best known for his fashion photography, he is an outstanding photographer of his generation. He travels extensively, creating advertising campaigns for clients such as Gucci, Versace, Gap and Burberry and shooting for American, British, French and Italian Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue and Vanity Fair. His subjects, stars from the worlds of fashion, film, royalty and music, include Kate Moss, John Galliano, Gwyneth Paltrow, Princess Diana, Robbie Williams and Madonna. Mario Testino: Portraits opened at the National Portrait Gallery in 2002, travelling to Milan, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Tokyo.
