Paul Lewis

Classical pianist. Born and raised in Huyton, Liverpool, Lewis became interested in classical music through his local library and became a pupil at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester at the age of fourteen. He studied at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama and received coaching from Alfred Brendel. Lewis's performances of Beethoven's piano sonatas (2005-7) and recordings of the cycle received critical acclaim and in 2010 he became the first pianist to perform all five Beethoven Concertos during at the Proms. In 2011 Lewis did a world tour performing Franz Schubert's late piano music.
