Martin Wyld
(1944-), Painting conservator; Chief Restorer, National GallerySitter in 1 portrait
In 1966 Wyld joined the National Gallery in London as a trainee restorer. In 1979 he was appointed head of conservation and he has served as interim Director of the Gallery three times. Amongst the works that Wyld has restored are Leonardo Da Vinci's cartoon of The Virgin and Child with St. Anne and St. John the Baptist (c.1500) and Velázquez's Philip IV Hunting Wild Boar (circa 1632-7).
