Political consultant. After managing Labour's polling and media strategy for the 1987 general election under Neil Kinnock, Gould moved the United States to work on Bill Clinton's successful presidential campaign in 1992. Gould played a pivotal role in the development of New Labour strategy prior to Tony Blair's landslide election in 1997 and in subsequent victories in 2001 and 2005. Gould's 1998 book, The Unfinished Revolution proved to be an influential text for all political classes. In 2011 Gould died from cancer of the oesophagus. He described his illness in a series of newspapers articles, published in 2012 titled When I Die.
