Edward Christopher ('Ed') Sheeran

Sitter in 2 portraits
Born in Yorkshire and raised in Suffolk, Sheeran began playing the guitar and writing songs at a young age. His style is a blend of acoustic, pop, folk and hip-hop, with influences from Bob Dylan to Eminem. He began recording in 2005, self-releasing EPs and playing small gigs (312 in 2009 alone). He built a strong fan base on social media, before his first single The A Team (2011) entered the UK chart at number three. His 2011 debut album, + ('Plus'), and 2014 album x ('Multiply') gained international acclaim - x becoming UK and US number one. In April 2017 he began a world tour of ÷ ('Divide'), which made history as the fastest-selling album by a male artist. He has won Ivor Novello, BRIT and Grammy awards.
