Denise Everett

(1965-), Embryologist

Sitter in 1 portrait
UK-born Everett gained a Master's degree in Clinical Embryology from Leeds University beginning her career in 1989 at the London Bridge Fertility Clinic where she worked for over three years. She was amongst only 100 embryologists in the UK at the time. After two years at Lister Hospital, Chelsea, she became a senior embryologist in charge of a laboratory with over 6 staff dealing with over 150 cases per month, a rise of 200% from when she started. She is recorded as the first senior black embryologist in England. Now working in the same field in Jamaica she is challenging local attitudes to fertility and helping to address the cultural stigma attached to childless couples.
