Peter Gill

Gill, one of the most recognised directors in British theatre, originally began his career as an actor. Soon after became Assistant Director at the Royal Court in 1964 he directed his own play Sleeper's Den and later D.H. Lawrence's A Collier's Friday Night (both 1965). In 1970 he became Associate Director. The last play he directed at the Court in 1976 was his own Small Change. Gill has also been founder director of both the Riverside Studios and National Theatre Studio.
