American-born but based in Britain, Miller studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City. Her first major roles, in 2004, were opposite Jude Law in the remake of Alfie and in Matthew Vaughn's Layer Cake. In 2005 Miller starred in Casanova and made her stage debut in As You Like It at Wyndhams Theatre, London. Notable later roles include Edie Sedgewick in Factory Girl (2006) and Caitlin Thomas in the Dylan Thomas biopic The Edge of Love (2008). In 2008 she was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. In 2011, Miller appeared in Terence Rattigan's Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, London.
