Shazia Mirza

(1976-), Comedian

Born in Birmingham to Pakistani parents, Mirza first worked as a science teacher. She gained recognition as a stand-up comedian in 2001 when she performed in hijab. Mirza's television appearances include F*** Off, I'm a Hairy Woman (2007), which she presented for BBC3. She was a script consultant on fellow comedian David Baddiel's film The Infidel (2010), starring Omid Djalili. She is a regular columnist for the Guardian (since 2004) and for The New Statesman (since 2006). Mirza has toured nationally and internationally with many of her acts, including Multiple Choice (2010-11), Cuckooland (2013) and The Kardashians Made Me Do It (2016).
