Sir Adrian Boult
(1889-1983), ConductorSitter in 67 portraits
Conductor; championed British music at home and abroad but was also internationally known for his interpretation of the standard repertory. Boult was the first conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra (1931-50) and subsequently of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (1950-7).
