Robert Bridges (1844-1930), Poet Laureate
Sitter in 26 portraits
Bridges was educated at Eton and Oxford, where he met Gerard Manley Hopkins who became a close friend and an important influence on his poetry. Bridges' first book of poems was published in 1873 and was followed by many collections of verse, plays and critical writings. He was made Poet Laureate in 1913.
