Elizabeth Capel (nee Morrison) was the heir of Sir Charles Morrison of Cassiobury, Hertfordshire. She married Arthur Capel in 1627, and when he inherited his grandfather's estates in 1632, the couple became one of the wealthiest in England. Their lands were scattered across ten counties, and brought them a reputed annual income of £7000.
