Thomas Chamberlain
(1810-1892), Honorary Canon of Christ Church, OxfordSitter in 1 portrait
Chamberlain was made a Student (Fellow) of Christ Church, Oxford in 1832. He became the vicar of St Thomas the Martyr, Oxford, only a mile or so west of Christ Church, in 1842. As he was one of the most notable 'tractarians' among the incumbents of Oxford parishes at the time, his early years there were stormy ones. He kept his rooms in Christ Church until 1869, and was made an Honorary Canon in 1882.
