The operatic soprano Giuseppina Ronzi (sometimes known as 'Claudine') was born in Milan and married the Italian bass Guiseppe de Begnis in 1816. She and her husband came to London in 1821 where they appeared in Rossini's Turco in Italia at the King's Theatre and other works by the composer. De Begnis is particularly associated with creating five leading roles in operas by Donizetti. She returned to Italy in 1825.
