Sir Edward Hoby
(1560-1617), Scholar and favourite of James ISitter in 1 portrait
Hoby was a soldier, diplomat and scholar, and the son of Sir Thomas Hoby, an important ambassador of Henry VIII. In 1588 he was appointed Secretary to the Council of War that made the preparations to meet the Spanish Armada.
