In March 1837, the following appeared in the 'Warwick Advertiser': “We had yesterday an opportunity of inspecting a very beautiful Mezzotinto engraving, by Mr S. Angell, from a portrait painted by that eminent artist, Mr Gill, of Mr Bolton King, one of the liberal members for Warwick. It is a delightful specimen of art, equally creditable to the painter and the engraver, and one of the most striking likenesses we have ever seen. We can have no doubt that the electors, who are desirous of seeing the face of their worthy representative, will be anxious to possess copies of this exquisite production”. King had lost the support of the 'Advertiser' and went down to defeat at the ensuing election.
