A painter and illustrator, Minton was a major figure in the neo-Romantic movement of the 1940s and 1950s, at various times sharing a studio with Keith Vaughan and with Michael Ayrton. Minton taught at Camberwell, the Central School of Art and at the Royal College. Well-known in Soho circles, his vivaciousness and generosity hid a deep melancholy which led to his suicide.
