Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond and Lennox (1764-1819), Soldier and Governor-General of British North America

After an illustrious military and administrative career which included seven years as Lord-Lieutenant in Ireland (1807-13), Richmond was appointed Governor-General of British North America in 1818. He died after only a year in the post.
