Married in 1873 to Samuel Augustus Barnett, they shared their work in east London for over twenty years. Among the many things they achieved was the establishment of the Children's County Holiday Fund. Outliving her husband by twenty-six years, Henrietta went on to establish the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust. She was active in many women's organisations and founded the Dame Henrietta Barnett School.
